EV CHARGING
As of the start of 2026, ILK is in the process of developing an EV charging solution for residents.
What is the current status?
An initial study was completed to assess the capacity of the building's existing electrical infrastructure and the physical layout of the car park to determine which charging solutions would be practical to implement.
The study confirmed that the existing electrical infrastructure has the capacity to support individual chargers in each car space. It also identified that, as there is no visitor parking in the building, shared chargers would not be a viable solution, particularly long-term, as the number of EVs increases.
Further investigation was undertaken, including consultation with EV solution providers and other buildings that have implemented, or are in the process of implementing EV charging.
A proposed solution was developed to provide the greatest convenience and long-term value for owners.
In simple terms, the proposed solution would:
-
Allow for individual EV chargers in car spaces, for the exclusive use of the lot the charger is installed for.
-
Provide charging capacity to keep the vehicle always topped up for moderate to high daily usage.
-
Meet all relevant security and safety requirements.
-
Avoid the high administration costs and vendor lock-in associated with managed service providers.
-
Enable EV chargers to be installed on request, as owners require them.
-
The cost of installing the “last mile” of electrical cabling and the EV charger would be paid by the lot owner whose car space the charger is servicing.
We are now undertaking a proof-of-concept trial of the proposed solution. The trial will ensure the solution meets expectations and provide an opportunity for feedback based on real-world usage.
How can I participate in the trial?
To express your interest in participating in the trial, complete the form below. If you have already registered your interest, you do not need to submit the form again.
Please note: The trial is currently limited to a total of 10 car spaces across LG, B1, and B3. Some spaces may not be eligible to participate due to physical constraints, such as storage units or similar impediments.
